7. Phoenix Riverside Marathon

17th November 2019

Phoenix Firebird RiversideMarathon

Back to earth after a week in Athens and the Athens Marathon. This weekend’s offering is the fantastically named Phoenix Firebird Marathon. Organised by the Phoenix Runners. Once more I find myself running along the banks of the Thames. Similar to the Thames Meander a few weeks back, other than it was a 4 lap course.

Initially I was worried that a lapped course would get very boring but it wasn’t too bad. A nice scenic route but after seeing the same route I tired of the scenery quite quickly. It was a flat course, not too muddy.

The organisation was good, aid stations at either end stocked with all sorts of goodies. I tend to feel quite nauseous while running so didn’t really indulge.

Feeling really tired now that I’ve finished, I stayed at a campsite in the van last night, uncomfortable and very cold so not much sleep was had and it’s catching up on me.

Next week takes me out to Ashford for the Brett Owler, whatever that is?

If you’d be interested in running one of the Phoenix marathons in the future, take a look at Phoenix Running.
